James Hall & Co Ltd is joining forces with Hovis and Frank Roberts & Sons bakeries to deliver fresh bread to SPAR UK stores every day.
The SPAR UK wholesaler for the North of England is partnering with the two bakery suppliers to create an unbeatable fresh bread offering in stores.
James Hall & Co. already offers daily delivery on fresh foods and sandwiches, both of which have helped boost retailer margins and help retailers benefit from better availability.
During a successful trial of the daily bread delivery scheme in to James Hall's company-owned store group G&E Murgatroyd, bread sales increased by an impressive 4%.
The wholesaler has also invested £1 million in a new fleet of lorries to keep the temperature perfect for bread.
Peter Dodding, James Hall &Co Retail Director, said: "Our partnership with these leading bakeries to deliver fresh bread every day marks a fantastic opportunity for us to increase the presence of the profitable and important bread category in convenience stores.
Bread is a massive footfall driver in convenience stores.
The pre-packed bread market is worth £1.8billion but independents and symbol group stores account for just 3% of this.
We want to help change that.We are determined to build sales, margin and cash profit for our SPAR retailers.
We feel we can do this by getting the basics right particularly on bakery lines.
James Hall & Co is extremely proud to be working with Hovis and Roberts as we share many common values.
Roberts is a true family business that cares about the environment, offering biodegradable bags, while Hovis is committed to making bread with 100% British wheat."
The new offering will be supported by a range of promotions, including Hovis Best of Both and Roberts Rolls available at a £1 price point.
