SPAR Launches Customer-fuelled Solar Power
SPAR Austria has joined forces with Wien Energie to develop a new cooperative model for investing in solar power.

Energy supply company Wien Energie will now equip SPAR supermarkets with photovoltaic systems, and customers can support the construction of the systems and receive SPAR vouchers worth €60 every year in return for their investment.

This opportunity means SPAR customers can support environmental projects and benefit from them when they participate, which starts at a cost of €950. With this investment, SPAR customers help enable the construction and operation of photovoltaic systems.

Part of the investment is then given back to SPAR customers every year with a compensation of 5.1%, which works out at €60 a year. After 25 years, SPAR customers get back a residual value of about €400 either in shopping vouchers or in cash.

So far, SPAR Austria has invested around €1 million in renewable energies.
