SPAR Retailer Celebrates 40 years by Taking Customers Back in time
A Lincolnshire SPAR retailer has been celebrating 40 years in the convenience store business in style – by treating her customers to prices from four decades ago. Gill Marsh, who owns three SPAR stores in Bilsby, Partney and Ulcebey Cross, offered her customers 1970s pricing on five key products throughout the first week of March. A 1970s style leaflet, highlighting the special pricing, was distributed to houses in the area to tell local consumers about the fantastic deals. The leaflet also included photos of the stores on the dates they opened – Bilsby in February 1971, Partney in 1981 and Ulceby in 2005, and some fascinating facts about the world in 1971.Gill commented: “I still enjoy retailing 40 years on and it’s great to be serving so many families through the generations. I wanted to thank our loyal customers for all their support for the last 40 years, and showed my gratitude by taking prices back by 40 years, too,” she said.
